I am a thought…

I am a thought thus posited
Upon this large white sheet
Of paper;
And severed thus from the
Organic mass whence I arose.

The hand that guides the pen which,
Dressing me in colours regal—
Cobalt blue,
Formalises the expulsion,
Knows little what it does.

My orphan-hood writ thus, I am,
Indifferent & wanting loyalty,
Set free
To haunt your brains,
Inflame your hearts.

About the Author

Annett Kottek
Annett Kottek studied English at Queen Mary, University of London. She is only incidentally a creative writer and prefers to dismantle literary texts, rather than generate them. That is because she loves few things better than trying to understand the mechanisms that make a work of literature, ahem, —work.
